The environment of a child molds them into the person they will become as an adult. The biggest influences in children lives are parents and celebrities. There are positive and negative influences these two both set as role models. When a child sees behavior of their parents affects their mental and social development as they grow. It seems today that children are trying to act older than they really are. Pressure from parents and celebrities could be responsible for this behavior and change in identity. The way children are influenced by our parents is entirely different by how they are influenced by celebrities. There are children who may make a bad decision about sex, drugs, money, or just maybe in life. As a child grows the images they see stays with them as the turn into teenagers. Then they think it is okay because the person they look up to besides a parent have demonstrated or talked about it. Parents can also influence bad decisions as well. Celebrities may play a great role in influencing a teenager’s preferences and perception towards. It is important for celebrities to keep up a good image. The influence of celebrities can range from one’s personal appearance to how a person interacts with the community. Celebrities have influenced people to wear similar clothes, to have the same hairstyle, or to use the same brand of cosmetics and other personal effects. Teenagers look up to celebrities for every minor update from the fashion world in the lust to look good and current. Girls are pressured to be skinnier and prettier, because that is what they see women look like in magazines and television. Sex sells and the media know that. It is also dangerous for children and teens to become obsessed with celebrities and everything their lives entail. The infatuation teenagers have over celebrities and their lifestyles can take over their own lives. Parents being the first influence in a kid’s life can affect them in the best possible manner by helping them to develop good personalities full of quality ethical and moral values. Family is the primary institution in the lives of individuals, with mother being the first teacher. Parents influence the life of an individual in multiple ways. The kid looks at the lifestyle of his parents and tries to adapt with them, therefore following everything that he looks at. Parents are the initial influence in their children’s lives. If parents have good morals and confidence so will their children. But if children see their parents displaying negative behaviors such as smoking, or abusing drugs and alcohol, or even possessing low self-esteem, the children will believe it is acceptable and are more likely to do so. Although celebrities influence lives in a big way, parents have a greater influence. Quality time spent with family could balance their self-images and lessen the need closely watch what celebrities are doing and the entertainment shows are created to cause hype directed towards famous people. No matter how much a person is influenced by celebrities, it can be limited when parents come into the picture. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a positive influence coming from celebrities, but when a person starts to show negative behavior because of this influence, parents and family will have to step in to change a person’s perspective. Throughout our lives, we are influenced by a lot of people. During the early year, family and parents play an important role in influencing and developing our own set of attitude and behavior. Our personal relationship with our parents would determine how we respond to or how we are influenced by other people. As we grow up, we become exposed to famous people, more often celebrities, who can then influence the way we look, the way we dress, and the way we interact with other people in the community. The way we are influenced by our parents is entirely different by how we are influenced by celebrities.

Euthanasia Euthanasia is the legal term for a medically assisted mercy killing; however in most countries, euthanasia is illegal. The first form of euthanasia is the voluntary decision of a patient. This is when a patient asks a doctor to terminate the patient’s life if and when the patient suffers too much, the patient has no hope of recovery, the patient has no hope for a decent quality of life, or the patient wishes to relieve the financial or psychological burden on the patient’s family. The other form of euthanasia is an involuntary decision by friends or family of the patient to end the patient’s life. This is sometimes referred to as euthanasia without consent from the patient. Euthanasia is unethical. It is immoral. Even though a death of a person is given consent by himself, it is still murder, assisted suicide, or mercy killing, which is against the will of God. Abortion Abortion, though allowed in some other countries, is illegal in the Philippines. Under the Revised Penal Code of the Philippines, any person who shall intentionally cause an abortion shall suffer reclusion temporal, prision mayor, or prision correccional. The only time abortion is legal is when the pregnancy of the expectant mother is beyond saving like in the case of fetal death, fetal deformity caused sickness while in womb, pregnancy post high risk to mother’s life. In all other circumstances, there is no exception. Abortion is more illegal in the eyes of God, because it is a mortal sin. Divorce Divorce, under the Family Code, is not allowed in the Philippines. Christianity is the largest religion in the Philippines, being that the Christian religion is strongly against divorce. The reason is the influence of Christianity in the Philippine culture. Under its teachings, only death can separate what God has put together. So even if under the eyes of the law, the marital bonds have been validly severed, the Catholic Church will still not honor said decree. Couple this with the fact that there is a stigma attached to broken marriages. Said stigma often develops feelings of insecurities and in some cases, rebellion on the part of the concerned parties. Polygamy Polygamy is the status or institution of simultaneous marriage of more than one woman to one man, or of several women to several men. The two forms are polygyny and polyandry. In ordinary use, the term is restricted to polygyny, where one man is simultaneously married to more than one woman. Catholic tradition has consistently interpreted Christ’s teaching as absolutely forbidding polygamy, and the prohibition was defined by the Council of Trent, pronouncing that it is unlawful for Christians to have several wives at the same time, and that it is forbidden the divine law. Marriage is a covenant between two people. In the Philippines, polygamy is not allowed because of the Christian influence in the Philippine culture. The only exception is when you are a Muslim living in the Philippines. Same sex Marriage Same sex Marriage is not allowed in the Philippines. Two people of the same gender having a relationship is somehow socially accepted nowadays. But when they are to be married, it is unethical. Even though there are some instances that these marriages occur, the couple could not include seeking legal protection and benefits that flow from marriage. Marriage is defined as a special contract of permanent union between a man and a woman entered into in accordance with law for the establishment of conjugal and family life.

Imagine yourself alone on a street corner, coughing up bloody mucous each time you exhale. You are gasping for a full breath of air, but realizing that is not possible, you give up your fight to stay alive. Youre thinking why is this happening to me? That is how the victims of the Black Death felt. In five short years, the plague killed between 25 and 45% of the populations it encountered. So how different were the Christian and Muslim responses? In 1348 Christians who were followers of Jesus Christ and Muslims who followed the teachings of Muhammad came face to face with the Black Death. In truth, Muslims and Christians responded in many different ways. Even the way the blamed others for the cause of the plague and religious views about the disease were very much different. In a similar manner both religions acted completely out the norm, they basically set aside their spiritual beliefs for a moment. One of the similar responses between the Muslims and Christians were acting out of the ordinary. According to document five both religions were finding non-religious alternatives to prevent the Black Death. In some cases, the Christians would try to sleeping on their backs to prevent the plague, while the Muslims would even avoid going outside. In addition they both drank a solution of Armenian clay to cleanse the body and built fires hoping that this would purify the contaminated air. Based on document nine both the religions united together to pray and they went back to their religious ways. These documents prove that each religion in some cases stepped out their religious backgrounds to try to prevent the Black Death. Religious views played a big part on the different ways the Christians and Muslims responded to the Black Death. The Christians basically thought the plague was their fault. They believe that they’re being punished for their sins they’ve imputed against God. On the other hand the Muslims are taking the plague lightly. They believe that â€Å"a Muslim should devoutly accept the divine act. The Muslims also believe that this occurrence is a blessing from God. In addition document two explains the Black Death Mortality by comparing each religions death rate. The mortality estimate Phillip Ziegler calculated for the Muslims shows that about 33% of the Middle Eastern population have deceased. While the Christian population in Europe mortality rate was only 31%. This document proves that the Muslims population decreased greater than the Christians. During the era of the Black Plague, the Christian community held a lood-thirsty lead hand in the fact of the matter, while the Islam society didn’t blame the epidemic on others and or try to solve the rampant disease with violence. According to document seven the Christians blamed the Jews for causing the Black Death; they believe the Jews poisoned the wells. The Muslims didn’t blame anyone for the occurrence of the Black Death, based on document ten. This proves that the Muslims believed that the plague was meant to happen, like document four said, â€Å"the plague is a blessing from God. †

Confusing Truth Essay 1. 1 Introduction Before the advent of digital imaging, we rely on paintings and books to record for documentary use. While paintings and books suggest the clear separation of what is truth and what is falsehood, people believe that camera is trustworthy and photos taken from it are the truth because camera is a machine with no emotions. Digital imaging gives better quality images to readers. However, due to the potential of digital photography manipulation, it has clarified that truth is not fixed anymore but has fluidity. There is no absolute truth. Before digital imaging, although photograph still has manipulations during their creation through framing or posing, photo manipulation is not that serious because fake photos are usually easily detected. Nowadays, digital imaging has made manipulation much more easily and harder to be detected. But, there are different degrees of alterations. From removing a hair from the forehead to removing a person in news photo, we can see the potential of digital manipulation. People start arguing on the matter of what to be considered as truth and falsehood; it is all because of the presence of fluidity of truth. 1. 2 Concept of Fluidity of Truth Generally, we are used to the truth-versus-falsehood nature. However, with the potential of how digital imaging can be changed in different degrees of alterations, it is not always easy to identify a point where truth is lost and we cannot set a clear line separate truth from falsehood. This is the concept of fluidity of truth. In the following, I will explain how digital imaging clarified fluidity of truth, with 2 altered images examples with different intentions and degree of alterations. Digital imaging and the powerful techniques of manipulation distort the truth. Photographers manipulate photos mainly in 4 ways: bad intention with large alteration, bad intention with little alteration, good intention with large alteration and good intention with little alteration. 1. 3 Example of manipulated photo with bad intention Take the award-winning photo about Tibetan Railroad in 2006 as example (see figure 2. 1). The photographer combined two separate photographs together to make a photo of a group of antelopes running below the Tibetan Railroad, showing a state of harmony between railroad technology and animals. At that time, environmental protection groups were aware that the construction of railroad had destroyed the ecosystem. With this combined photo, it is proved and people believed that construction did not affect the animals at all. The Government used this photo as a proof to persuade the Environmental Protection groups who object to the construction of the railroad. (10 News photos 2009) 1. 4 Example of manipulated photo with good intention Another example is about National Geographic (see Figure 2. 2). In 1982, it was accused of altering a photo of Egyptian pyramids, squeezing them closer together, in order to fit into the cover vertically. In this case, the photographer did not have any bad intention. He just wanted to fit his original horizontal photo into the magazine’s vertical cover. He did not alter the photo a lot either with the fact that if he went farer and took the photograph, the resulting image would have been the same as the altered image. Regarding this case, pyramid was still there and nothing was added nor removed. Truth was not lost at all. Should this photo be considered as falsehood? (10 News photos 2009) 1. 5 Different perception of ‘heavy alteration’ As shown above, it is difficult to discern manipulated digital images to truth or falsehood depend on the intention. So can we identify them in accordance with degree of alteration? For instance, photos with large alteration should be considered as falsehood. The answer is probably not because everyone can have distinct perspective towards what is more and what is less. Take Klavs Bo Christensen’s photo of Haiti in 2009 as example, his photo has been processed in terms of the color tone and sent to a Danish photo contest (see Figure 2. 3). Retouching made the photo stunning and contrasting in color tone. At the end, the judges disqualified the photo since they thought the photo were too extreme and unacceptable. Christensen, the photograph, admitted the retouching but insisted that the result image was within his limit. In this case, we can see that different people have different perception of ‘heavy alteration’. Neither did Christensen remove a person nor combine two separate photos. (10 News photos 2009) 1. 6 Ironic photography and retouching techniques in products In postcards and photos of residence catalogs, most of them have been processed and are taken in certain angle in order to make the place look spectacular. These beautified photos are to attract people to visit there, expanding number of possible customers. People are always disappointed when they really get there and realize the difference between the real place and the process one. Not only these two products, most, if not all, advertisement also retouch the photos to make the subject look perfect. For instance, in the advertisement selling skincare products, the skin of the model always looks silky and perfectly smooth. Again, this is the result image of retouching. However, we never criticize these photos as falsehood or lying even though they are also under the same kind of retouching technique and manipulations as the mentioned examples above. It is all because we have fluidity of truth. There is no absolute truth or falsehood. 1. 7 Inevitability of digital manipulation Indeed, media do need certain extent of digital manipulations, such as lightening or darkening a photograph just for better reproduction quality (Newton P. 11). Truth is not lost at all. In these cases, should we consider these manipulated photos as falsehood? It is always hard to judge because of the fluidity of truth where the line between truth and falsehood is ambiguous. 1. 8 Conclusion It is always hard to define what is real. With the potential of how people can digitally manipulate photos in totally different ways and with different intentions, fluidity of truth has been clarified, where not every photograph can fit into the truth-versus-falsehood nature. We can have people doing alterations with good intention or simply just for better reproduction quality, while we can also have people using photo manipulation for controlling and creating a scene that has never happened. At the same time, we have advertisements under retouching technique without being criticized. All these suggest that digital imaging, with numerous ways of manipulations, has clarified the fluidity of truth. A clear line or point to discern between truth and falsehood does not exist. Critical Analysis Of Arrow Arrow is a American television series which can be classified in the action adventure genre. The central character is Oliver Queen a playboy billionaire who was lost at sea when his yacht capsized and had to struggle for survival for five years alone on an uncharted island. The series starts with his return back home and his changed outlook on life. He takes up a persona of a masked vigilante and starts to fight crime with his weapon of choice being a bow and an arrow. The series is based on the fictional DC comic character Green Arrow and moves backwards in time as much as it does forward, to justify the actions of the now vigilante by keeping viewers a briefed by introducing flashbacks of events that happened to the the playboy/soft Oliver Queen to turn him into this darker character. The first episode premiered in North America on the CW (CBS and Warner Bros.) network on 10th October 2012 with international broadcasting taking place later in the year. The series being in its first season and having aired at this point a total of nine episodes world wide has been at the centre of a massive cross over from comic books to feature length films that is becoming a predominant theme at the Hollywood Box office. The reason why television series are playing such an effective role in this cross over is because of the depth of the character they can provide over a long series as compared to a feature film. With Chris Nolans Batman trilogy completed in 2012, the origins of Superman to be retold to a new generation in Zack Snyders The Man of Steel schedule for release in 2013, Green Lantern established as a character in the self titled 2011 release, the stage has been set for all of them coming together in the 2015 release of the Justice League (DC comics answer to Marvel comics Avengers). The character missing from this equation is Oliver Queen alias The Green Arrow who now stars as the central character in the television series Arrow. Arrow not surprisingly coincides with the 2011 television series finale of Smallville, which chronicled Supermans journey from childhood to becoming a superhero, taking over the 8pm time slot that was formerly held by Smallville on CW network. This has strategically worked on multiple fronts. Firstly it is being compared from the outset to Smallville, two shows that are inspired by DC comic characters which is working in raising interest amidst Smallville viewers and fans, secondly it is showing Green Arrow in a different light than his care free persona which guest starred in Smallville and lastly it has been placed before the very popular show Super Natural, both shows mirror each other in theme of being suspense action thrillers with central characters being hunters. The core team that has developed the series and has been successful in bringing it on air comprises of Andrew Kreisberg, Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and David Nutter. The first three names have developed the story and script together or in part, for most of the season, while David was the director of the first three episodes, including the pilot, playing an intrinsic role in getting the series approved. In terms of familiarity with the central character, the DC universe and experience with successful shows, Arrow could not have hoped for a better team. Andrew Kreisberg in 2009 was the co-executive producer and writer for the hugely successful series Fringe and has actually written a comic book ongoing series Green Arrow and the Black Canary published by DC Comics starring Green Arrow. He was further involved in the marketing of the television series when he wrote the 10 page preview comic produced by DC for the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con,, sharing the same plot structure as the tele vision series which Kreisberg commented by saying, Anyone who grabs a copy: Hold onto it and as the (television) series progresses, youll appreciate it more and more. Greg Berlanti on the other hand has written the script for the movie Green Lantern, based on another DC character who will be paired with Green Arrow in the 2015 release of the Justice League while Marc Guggenheim has written television scripts for e.g The Practice and has also written for DC comics The Flash and Justice Society of America. Interestingly Dave Nutter is known for directing pilot episodes for television series and is often referred to as the pilot whisperer. His break came when he directed episodes of the X-Files but his claim to fame are still the first sixteen pilot episodes that he directed which all went on to become series, including Smallville. From an aesthetic viewpoint Arrow really has to be divided into 3 different segments for a fair analysis which are present Olivers public life, the flashbacks which take us back to the island and the action scenes in which Oliver acts out as the vigilante in costume. Firstly the lighting and color tones in all three are noticeably different. In the flashbacks the color tone turns to grey playing into the theme of his isolation, fear and confusion, instinctively pointing to the viewer that this is indeed a flashback/memory. Then we have the public life of Oliver Queen in which he continues to keep up his playboy faà §ade to cover up his darker alter ego. These scenes are often spent among family and friends or making public addresses, which are all well lit almost to the point of having a yellow tone to them, playing into the notion of the rich and famous, all glitter and gold. Then there are the night scenes in which the vigilante comes out to extract his idea of justice, in which t here is a lot of usage of shadows, setting the feeling of mystic and playing an important role in hiding Olivers face, from the villains as well as the viewers. In the flashback scenes the camera work remains edgy, almost has a hand free look to it while the editing in terms of cuts is very quick and often this technique is used to suggest lapses in time, from passage of hours, in some instances passing of days. The framing in these scenes, to compliment the editing, normally sticks to mid close up shots to extreme close ups so that the rush of the moment tempo can be sustained. Olivers public life scenes in the contemporary timeline show a range from close ups frames to long shots. There are a lot of establishing shots to justify the setting of the place from house, restaurants, night clubs etc, also the long shots are used to show the grandeur of the way Oliver and his family live. The editing cuts slow down as well and more time is spent in establishing one scene from one angle before switching to the next angle. The vigilante scenes revert back to the same formulae as the flashback scenes in terms of their framing and editing but differ in the way the camera is handled. The camera are more steady shots which are improvised by use of tracks and cranes but still are very different from the handheld look used in the flashback scenes. Diegetic sound has been used amply to justify certain scenes, examples of this are gunshots, the sound of the arrow leaving the bow, the sound of moving water in the flashback scenes reminding the audience that Oliver is on an island even at times when the water isnt shown, not to mention the music in the background from a party taking place downstairs when Oliver and other characters are having a conversation in a room upstairs etc. In non-diegetic sound, music from other artists is used in the romance scenes and other emotional situations but the most intriguing is the original music score that was composed by Blake Neely. The dark music theme sets the mood for this dark take on the Green Arrow character. Blake Neely admits in a promotional video released about the composition of the music, prior to the airing of the series, that he was pleasantly surprised when the writers of the show asked him to go as dark and menacing as he could. Most of the vigilante scenes and the flashbacks use only the original theme, which plays well in keeping the link alive in the audiences mind, that what happened to Oliver on the island has led to him becoming what he is now, the vigilante Green Arrow. The critical reception towards Arrow has been favourable with Metacritic giving it a score of 73%, based on reviews from 25 critics. Mary McNamara (Los Angeles Times) said the series has a quality look to it and an interesting setting ,Smooth without being slick, textured but not self-indulgent, Arrow reminds us that the best stories we tell are both revelatory and a whole lot of fun to watch. Robert Bianco (USA Today) stated Granted, its all standard superhero stuff but the action scenes are well-handled, the emotions and the characters mostly ring true, and the plot offers enough twists to keep you intrigued. while David Hinckley (NewYork Daily News) wrote Arrow turns out to be a lively show, probably better than hard-core Green Arrow fans expected. Thats a good start.. While there are praises for Arrow by and large by critics, the articles have an undertone of a pleasant surprise like they were expecting worse and I think that worked for Arrow as it took people by surprise, not for being that great but for being far better than they expected. Not all reviews were full of praise though for e.g Brian Lowery (Variety) called the characters as strictly two dimensional and argued that there is over use of action scenes for a hour long episode. He also compared the over all setting of the series and the central character as being a surrogate Batman story. The most telling of reviews was probably that of Ken Tucker (Entertainment Weekly) suggesting that Your interest in Arrow depends on how much you miss the troubled-in-love, conflicted-by-family heroics of Smallvilleit mirrors that series setup. I think Ken Tuckers review has nailed the essence of the fans reaction to the show. Arrow has appealed to Smallville fans who have adopted it as their logical replacement after the Smallvilles tenth season finale bringing the series to a close. Those who didnt take well to Smallville are having the same objections to Arrow, with common complaints being of the characters being too involved in their emotional family sagas and their love lives rather than taking the plot of the mystery forward. Some fans of Batman are viewing it as a step down as the background stories of the two characters have a lot of similarities, playboy billionaires coming back after many years to their respective fictitious cities (Gotham and Starling City), becoming maske d vigilantes fighting against crime and injustice. Luckily for Arrow, Smallville did have a large viewership and the comic book fans of Green Arrow have reacted well to the new television series which has enabled it to amass a descent following. Arrow has lived up to its hype through the cinematic way that its been written, filmed and edited. Use of the original music/score has allowed the viewers to follow the journey of Oliver from the present narrative to his flashes back in time with ease, while the diegetic sound is used amply and with good effect in the action scenes to capture the intensity of the moment. If the first nine episodes are any indication, which they are as Arrow has become CW networks first major success since the Vampire Diaries in terms of ratings, the series has all the potential of enduring against its competition. The co-writers past experience with writing for DC comics have aided them in bringing the best rendition of the character of Oliver Queen to the television screen, while the plot deepening in each e pisode, with the mystery surrounding his enemies and his past, is sure to keep the audience intrigued for what seems to be at least a couple more seasons to come. 3 ACT STRUCTURE ACT 1 The time period is contemporary London. The story follows our protagonist Jeremy, who is a successful banker in his mid 30s, coming from an affluent family. His commitment to his profession and ambition to climb up the corporate ladder has made it difficult for him to find his soul mate. After several years of attempting to find someone he lets Tim, his childhood friend, set him up on a blind date with Kelly, Tims neighbour. Kelly is in her mid 20s, a free spirited, care free personality, working in a local restaurant. Plot Point 1: Jeremy meets Kelly in a local diner and intrigued by her spontaneity is instantaneously attracted to her, as Kelly is to his ambitious nature. Jeremy decides to keep seeing Kelly which Kelly agrees to although deep down she realizes how different they really are. ACT 2 Eight months have passed since Jeremy first met Kelly. Jeremy keeps falling deeper in love with her and wants to marry her. In the back of his mind he also feels that Kelly might be interested in someone else as she has been acting emotionally distant recently, the truth being that he doesnt realize that Kelly is scared of a serious commitment. Despite all the troubles they have had on account of differences in their personality, and his suspicions, he feels that if she agrees to marry him all the problems between them will be resolved. Middle point: Jeremy proposes to Kelly in the diner where they first met, taken aback as she was expecting a more serious build-up, like a formal dinner, in which she would have been better prepared to make a well thought out decision, she is taken in by the moment and decides to say Yes. After further contemplation Kelly decides that she does love Jeremy but could not spend the rest of her life with someone so different. She wants to get break off the engagement. Although knowing it will be extremely heartbreaking for her, she is more concerned about Jeremy, as the last thing she wants to do is hurt him. Plot Point 2: Jeremys suspicions increase as Kelly seems even more detached after the engagement. Against his better judgement he goes through her mobile text messages in which he sees a text from her to Tim saying I rather be with you. This sends Jeremy in a rage of fury and he decides if Kelly is having an affair with his best friend, then their engagement is over. ACT 3 Jeremy has an altercation with Tim in which Tim denies any involvement with Kelly. Jeremy then decides that he should call Kelly to his place and give her a chance to explain. He would be willing to forgive her anything but this and wants her to tell him it isnt true. As Kelly is on her way over Tim calls her and tells her what Jeremy was accusing Tim off. She is hurt as through all their problems Kelly never thought of anyone else while she was with Jeremy. The text message was completely unrelated to Jeremy and was a joke between two friends on a unrelated topic. Climax: Kelly arrives at Jeremys house only to find that he has adopted a very cold demeanour towards her. He asks her whether she had cheated on him with Tim. She thinks about telling the truth but sees this as the only way she can break the engagement without making Jeremy feel that he is not worthy of her. With bitter sadness she says Yes and leaves the house with tears rolling down her eyes. For the first time since they met, Jeremy and Kelly are on the same emotional place, they do love each other, but understand they were never meant to be. He is the strong silent type, who doesnt say much and feels he can freely speak in front of very few people. As much as he loves her he understands that his habit of always wanting to be in control of things is an inherit part of him and doesnt understand how that would play out in the future with someone like Kelly. He also has a obnoxious side to him as his rich upbringing makes him feel that he is better than the common folk. He is extremely determined to stay set in his ways and finds it hard to take no for an answer. When a friend of mine from another University in England mentioned working together and wanting to make a short film on problems faced by young couples in the contemporary British society, we got to work searching for material online. I looked through articles on the internet and some interesting statistics that I came across were suggesting that dwelling over the past and your ex, was a strong cause of emotional stress and depression. According to the 2011 survey carried out by YourTango.com, an online website dedicated to articles on relationship aspects and advice on matters, most people are still hung up on their ex: 71% of people say they think about their ex too much; narrowed to singles the figure goes up to 81%. More than half (57%) of singletons say thinking about their ex prevents them from finding new love. I felt the only way to make it intriguing for the viewer would be if the story revolved around everything that one shouldnt do in a relationship rather than discussing what one should. I though the male counterpart in the story should suffer from jealousy as chronic jealousy according to the article leads to jumping to conclusions, suffering from paranoia, putting yourself in stress with recurring negative thoughts ultimately leading to moments of lashing out which make it difficult for the other person to stay with you. Having characterized to male character, I wanted the story to be balanced, so it was imperative that the female character embodies certain traits that cause the rift between them and blame isnt one sided. So the female character being free spirited is scared of a serious commitment to someone slightly older and more grounded than her. Although they have gotten engaged and she does love him, how does she react to realizing that they just arent compatible in the long run and would end up making each other miserable. I helpful article on this front was one written in 2009 by Simon Oaks titled How To Break Up With A Man: Dont Be Ambiguous. The article suggested that the best way to go about breaking of your relationship was to Make A Clean Break, by not hinting about it but rather saying the words Its over so it makes matters clear , secondly to Be Direct and not leave messages, letters etc, but by having the conversation face to face. So to make the story more complex, the female character spends more time trying to break off their engagement by suggesting, hinting and growing emotionally distant thinking that would be a better ploy and less heartbreaking for the male character but instead leads to more paranoia, suspicion and stress on his part. The feel/tone of the film is inspired by two different films, a French 70 minute film written and directed by Olivier Roberge and Patrick Boivin called Fall Finally that I saw online which follows a couples love affair and eventual breakup. I felt the cinematography for a low budget film, with interesting and crisp color toning and camera movements was inspirational. The camera movements could be done without excessive or expensive equipment and the up and do of the relationship were handled well. The other is a short film Symmetry made by filmmakers Will Hoffman, Daniel Mercadante, and Julius Metoyer, which plays with our yearning for balance, and reveals how beautiful imperfect matches can be, which has inspired the editing style of the flashback/memory scenes in which Ill attempt to use point of view (POV) shots a time lapse effects in post editing to make it visually different from the rest of the film.

The Hidden Meaning of The Nun's Priest's Tale  Ã‚     Ã‚   It has been suggested that a "Chaucer tale exploits the nature of its genre but also draws attention to the ideological biases and exclusions inherent in the genre"2. In my opinion The Nun's Priest's Tale is a wonderful example of Chaucer testing the bounds of his chosen genre - in this case the beast fable. What is a beast fable? Obviously a tale about animals, but one where "animals are used as embodiments or caricatures of human virtues, vices, prudences, and follies ... and the other typical qualities of mankind. They are generally brief cautionary anecdotes that use the obvious resemblances between man and animals to point a moral or push a proverb home entertainingly"3. Chaucer can be seen to exploit the nature of the beast fable fully in The Nun's Priest's Tale. It contains all of the traditional elements mentioned above: the central characters are the chickens Chauntecleer and Pertelote, and Russell the fox; the culpability, gullibility, guile and boastfulness of the characters are examined; the tale is brief, approximately 650 lines; and several morals are offered. The tale is also entertaining, but not only because of its caricatures of human traits. The tale contains numerous sub-genres such as the romance, rhetorical debate, and Christian misogyny, and it is the interplay of these sub-genres with the framing beast fable that creates much of the humour. These opinions, ideas or beliefs may or may not be based on facts and hence most end with disastrous results. However once ideas have crystallized into organized action little question is raised to their feasibility or conformance to fact. Conclusively the objective of the group is either initially or ultimately the result of compromise being either very limited or very general in scope. This explains the ineffectiveness of the emotional approach and the political generality does not adequately define the project. The end result is the making of a mountain out of a molehill where the emphasis is on the exaggeration and reiteration o f minor differences while ignoring what they have in common. Technocracy partakes one single element in that it is dependent on the voluntary association of individuals acting upon certain ideas upon which they are in agreement. Comparatively it differs from all other social movements since its common ideas are not the result of philosophic agreement. Like it or not we are all aging! It is a scary thought for some. However, knowing that my grandparents, parents, and one day myself will have the option to obtain Medicare is very comforting. Medicare is a federal health care program that was put in place by Congress in 1965 to provide health insurance to Americans sixty-five and above. Medicare was then expanded in 1972 to also cover younger individuals who are disabled (Kaiser, 2012). To think of all the individuals who could not afford health care or had preexisting health problems and where unable to be cared for is simply unacceptable. With this federal health care program Americans have a stable sense of security knowing that their insurance will not revoke their benefits if an illness arises or too many claims come about. It is my strong belief that after working forty years or more Americans have earned the right to have health care insurance. People deserve to reap the benefits of having paid their taxes for at least ten years. As a result of the new health reform there will be some changes happening to Medicare. To improve early detection there will be annual well-visit checkups, colorectal cancer screenings, mammograms, and colonoscopies covered by Medicare (Health Policy Briefs, 2010). In a multi-ethnic and multi-religious society like Singapore, there is a need to manage the racial and religious sensitivities and promote tolerance and harmony. In addition, there is also the need to build national identity by instilling a sense of belonging. Therefore, there is a need to identify the most important problem out of the three and then solve it. The first problem is managing the perceptions of different racial groups. There is a need to manage this problem as preconceived notions of biased treatment by the government against any racial group could lead to the outbreak of violence among the different communities.For example, in 1964, Singapore experienced race riots which resulted in 36 dead and 590 injured. Singapore was in Malaysia then, and the UMNO felt threatened when the PAP participated in the 1964 Federal elections. Johann made a visit to listen to organ music in a church in Lubeck and here he was deeply influenced by the organ music which prompted him to start composing preludes to hymns. Hence most of his compositions after his trip were religious. During the years 1708-1710, Bach received a lot of acclaim for his organ compositions not only from the general public but also from the royalty.
